The house was bought by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.broughlodge.org\/\">Brough Lodge Trust<\/a> several years ago who carried out work to restore the grade A listed building to a wind and watertight state, having secured a considerable amount of grant funding. He was an eminent surgeon in his own right and was at one time the president of the Royal College of Surgeons as well as serving as an MP. He undertook a significant amount of unpaid medical work in Fetlar and in the other North Isles for people who would otherwise been unable to afford surgery.
